Moving on to John 5 this week, we will see something that is the norm for Jesus — getting in trouble with religious leaders for doing nice things. In this case, Jesus does a seeming no-no by healing a man on the Sabbath. Once again, we will wrestle together to understand what is going on in this story and with our core question from the Gospel of John: “Is this a portrayal of a Jesus that is worth following?”
And, of course, we’ll begin our time together with a shared meal to celebrate the goodness of God and community. See you Sunday at 5.
