As we work through John 6 together this week, we will see something that is somewhat unique in John’s Gospel. Two of the stories found in this chapter are stories that are also told in other Gospels: the feeding of the five thousand and Jesus walking on the water. But John expands on these stories with a long teaching by Jesus as follow-up. So, we’ll look at these stories and follow-up through the same lens we look at each chapter: What happens in this story that makes Jesus worth following?
It’s a long chapter, one of the longest in all of the Bible, so set aside a little more time this week to read ahead.
