Frequently Asked Questions

What if I'm not sure I believe?

Great! Austin Mustard Seed is a church for passionate believers and hopeful skeptics. We are all in different places somewhere along that spectrum, and we come together to experience community and learn the practices of Jesus.

What about kids?

Kids stay with their caregivers throughout the meal. We have a special lesson and activities for the kids during the adult discussion, but children remain in the activity center throughout Community Dinner. You can learn more here.

When do you meet?

We meet every Sunday evening at 5pm in the Activity Center at Faith Lutheran Church for Sunday Community Dinner.  Our gatherings follow the format similar to the first followers of Jesus -- we share a meal together while we talk about our lives, our celebrations, our struggles, and our faith around tables.

Where do I go?

Austin Mustard Seed gathers for Sunday Community Dinner every Sunday evening at 5pm at Faith Lutheran Church in the Activity Center (6600 Woodrow). Park in the back parking lot along Brentwood St. or along any of the residential streets. Follow the signs to find us inside!

What do I wear?

This is Austin, so people are usually pretty casual.

How can I participate?

We welcome everyone to participate at a level comfortable to them. Join us for a meal and feel free to go. Or, stay a little longer for a conversation about Jesus. Come back a second week, and we might invite you to help out! We always need people who can help set up, make coffee, greet newcomers, help prepare dinner, not to mention, many other opportunities throughout the week. You can send contact our staff to learn more.

What do you believe?

We stand alongside centuries of Christian tradition in embracing the Apostles Creed and the Nicene Creed. We also see Christianity as a continuation of the long story of God’s work in the world — read how we understand that story
